The aim of the Center for Big Data Research at Kaohsiung Medical University (the Center) is to establish an integrated big data center from Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) Health System to provide high quality medical research data and integrated research resource platform for researchers, faculty members and physicians of KMU health system. Integrated data sources may include Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital Database (KMUHRD) or other external sources such as the Health Data Science Center of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The KMUHRD includes in-hospital health insurance administrative claims, electronic medical records, laboratory or examination check-ups, pathology reports, medical imaging files, in-hospital cancer registry, gene or human cell databank. Through the excellent medical data sources, the Center may help enhance medical research sources with breadth and depth aspects for researchers to conduct cutting edge research and to break through the limitations of current medical knowledge as well as medical treatments so that more patients may be benefit from the improving health quality of care.
